David 'Fathead' Newman - "Blue Head" on Candid.

Recorded live in the late 80's with Clifford Jordan sitting in with "guitarist Ted Dunbar, pianist Buddy Montgomery, bassist Todd Coolman and drummer Marvin "Smitty" Smith."

I was at that show. It was part of a series of afternoon NY shows on West 79th Street & Riverside Drive. I also saw Kenny Barron/John Hicks (also recorded on Candid as "Rhythm-A-Ning")

Oh wow! One of my favourite Fatheads, that is.

This month I bought the Braxton box set, the Elis Regina Ao Vivo, Gal Costa live at the Blue Note, the Waldron-Shepp "Left Alone Revisited", Jacques Vidal's "Mingus Spirit" and the ESP Alan Da Silva

The Waldron-Shepp is very nice, Lon - I'm sure you'll love it. I'll have to look into the Vidal - sounds promising; thanks for the tip. My sub renews in just a couple of days and I can't wait to d/l at least some of the new Braxton.

This one was just added at eMusic, under the title "Hawk Swings." I'll hit it when my account refreshes.

I am all about that one. Have to wait until May 2nd. :(

I noticed that there are two "Hawk Swings" on the Crown label listed on eMusic... the track listing is not the same, though. Anyone know for sure what each of these albums represents?

The samples on both albums sound good, and I've put both in my "Save For Later" folder... just wondered what the heck I'm really getting though!

Cheers,

Shane
