Hey Allen, I know you're a modest guy and all that - - but could you tell those of us who know nothing about this set and your book a bit about what it's all about? Obviously (very) early jazz, but it sounds like your book has been published before, in full, and this is just an excerpt? This one may be a bit too "early" for my tastes, but the later volumes sound intriguing...

the book covers jazz history, 1895-1950 - it is an attempt to offer an alternative to the typical cookie-cutter jazz history, and includes many people who are not covered in most jazz histories. All the major figures are there, but also regional musicians, some Western Swing, some early pop/crossover, hillbilly ragtime, latin american, etc etc. I can, in a little bit, post the whole discography. The book is available from Cadence. This first volume of the set set covers 1895-1927 and the booklet includes the entire text of the first part of the book. Subsequent sets will appear (I hope) every 3-6 months and will eventually include the entire book -

and yes, I am a modest guy though I have learned that good looks will not get you everything in life -
