The Blue Note Cover Series

Recommended Posts

Fareed Haque and Everett Harp did albums in this series. Haque's was a cover of CSNY's "Deja Vu". Harp's was a cover of "What's Going On".

I believe there were some others, and also think there is some prior discussion of this on the BB, but it's too difficult to perform the search and find it.

edit - oh, and Bob Belden did "Tapestry".

I've got the George Howard Riot side, and it's none too shabby if you like good funky instrumental music that doesn't pretend to be "jazz". Great for parties, chore-doing, or any other activity where you can appreciate a good groove that doesn't ask you to think, but doesn't insult you by not doing so.

Good stuff.

Charlie Hunter - Natty Dread

Fareed Haque - Deja Vu

Bob Belden - Tapestry

Everette Harp - What's Going On

George Howard - There's A Riot Goin' On

Ronnie Laws - Harvest Of The World

MCO

marcus you are the best!!!

:)

The interesting thing about the Charlie Hunter is that, not only did he follow the song sequence of Natty Dread, his performance lengths were exactly those of the original Marley LP.
