“It goes sumpin’ like this: Consumption of BEER leads to pseudo-military behavior. Think about it — winos don’t march. Whisky guys don’t march either (sometimes they write poetry, which is often more horrible, though). BEER drinkers are into things that are sorta like marching – like football. Go ahead and laugh…every industrialized country has A BEER, You can't be a Real Country unless you have A BEER and an airline - it helps if you have some kind of a football team, or some nuclear weapons, but at the very least you need A BEER. In contrast to Mr. Beer Guy, picture a guy who is religiously devoted to Chateau Latour. Is he marching? HE AIN’T MARCHING!” -FZ

Some nice drinking this weekend. An old college buddy who was recently married came up to Boston to introduce the old gang to the new wife. All of us are wine-lovers (most are jazz fans, too) so we pulled out some decent bottles. Michele Chiarlo 1996 Barolo, La Rioja Alta 1996 Vina Ardanza, Domaine des Galets des Papes 1998 Chateauneuf-du-Pape. (Those are just the ones I remember...)

Dragon fruit? What does it taste like?

Right now I'm drinking Pian Del Ciampolo, a wine made in the Chianti region by the Montevertine winery. :tup

Yes - Dragon fruit.

Can't say it's like any other fruit I've tasted - The seeds (black dots in pic) are edible and crunchy, like seeds of a kiwi fruit. The flesh, white or red, is a little crunchy like a semi-ripe pear and has usually what many would consider a bland taste (sometimes a little sourish), but can be quite sweet in spots.

Now enjoying a piping hot cup of black sesame beverage.
