What do people think are the chances of Bobby Hutcherson's Total Eclipse being released as an RVG or a Connoisseur in the future. It's one of the few 60's Blue Notes left that hasn't been reissued in the last couple of years.

Total Eclipse is a terrific album, and could really improve from an RVG treatment. Anyone know if this on the RVG radar?

There must be some kind of market for percussion-heavy material or they wouldn't keep releasing it.

I keep noticing how many jazz fans are afraid of / have aversions against some hand drummers ..... :P:w;)

Why do you wonder about that? It's almost as bad as free jazz, you know... all these boring bumpy beats in a total mess with no order, and no melody at all! :g

The series has contained material from some of those other labels (and Transition).

and Jazz West - the Sonny Criss (a great one, in my opinion!)

The Sonny Criss sessions were recorded for Imperial, not Jazz West!

The Jazz West material (Art Pepper, Jack Sheldon, Kenny Drew ...) was reissued on the parent Pacific Jazz label.

And I don't think Mosaic uses the original cover art in their sets, do they?

The Selects usually include several of the original album covers in CD size, also all the original notes, sometimes with additional post scripts or just a short note by MC or something.

I'm wanting to jump in here to shout a big THANKS!!!! to Bluenote for getting the Kenny Cox out! Pretty nice music..."Miles-flavored" but very much it's own thing...I especially enjoy Leon's tenor work...it trikes me as being of the same source as Joe's work - but also an individual thing too. Very tasty work. I've had the vinyl of "Multidirection" for some time and really welcomed the chance to obtain "Introducing..."
