IS it just me, or does this playlist strike anyone else as odd? Randy Weston and Kenny G? Stan Kenton and Tuck and Patti? Obviously, nothing really 'out', but it looks like about half 'real jazz' and half 'pop jazz'. I'd have my finger on the channel changer constantly.

1. Estoril Soul - Gene Harris Quartet

2. Raincheck - Cedar Walton

3. Moondance - Ramsey Lewis & Nancy Wilson

4. Blue Moses - Randy Weston Quintet

5. St. Louis Blues - Gil Evans

6. It's Magic - Abbey Lincoln

7. Shutterbug - Steve Alfee

8. My One And Only Love - Stan Kenton

9. Jingle Bell Rock - Lou Rawls

10. Hold 'Em Joe - Sonny Rollins

11. For The First Time - Antonio Hart

12. If - Kenny G

4am

13. Night And Day - Etta James

14. Red Pepper Blues - Art Pepper

15. Scatsville - Michael Franks

16. I Wanna Be Loved - Dinah Washington

17. Let It Snow, Let It Snow - Chris Botti

18. Wave - Ahmad Jamal Trio

19. The Way You Look Tonight - Jon Lucien

20. Unison - Serge Chaloff

21. Tears Of Joy - Tuck & Patti

22. Groovin - BWB

23. Spirit Of The Season - Hiroshima

Outro: Mr. Magic - Grover Washington, Jr. Closing song: The Lord's Prayer - Aaron Neville

Sounds like a good way to try and attract/hold a broader audience.

Nothing on there that would really piss me off except for Kenny G. The snooty dumping on of Botti is highly ill-advised, I think. The rest of the "smooth-ish" stuff on that list is stuff I've either not heard of, or people I have who do what they do decently enough. I'm in no way a fan, but I can put the ears on hold while it plays.

But if a G-Fan accidentally hears some Randy Weston, hey, oh well...

I second that, the show is called "G-Strings" and is excellent.

on sunday mornings from 9 to noon is a splendid show featuring all kinds of stringed instruments.

everything from charlie byrd to some very avant tracks plus string music from all over the world.

the host is most eloquent and understated. this is a splendid program
