oh my god. i found this video store in seattle, and i swear they probably have 300 videos of nothing but compilations of trailers for sex films from the 50s and 60s. They even had a bunch of even earlier stuff, but the real crazy stuff was from the 50s and 60s. Some of it was tame by standards today, but most was quite rather shocking- the films went out of their way to degade women even in the plot- ie: "WOMEN--- why do they drive men to do such crazy things---- WOMEN- the cause of all evil by man, etc."

ANNNNYWAys, you should of heard the jazz. Some of it was pretty modern sounding bebop. And I am TELLING you, if Curtis Amy or Bobby Hutcherson or whoever else i thought it might have heard on one of these soundtracks, if they actually DID make the soundtrack, i guareentee you its not going to pop up in any discography of that artist of whatnot. Does anyone have any comments on a jazz-issue such as this? and it IS a jazz issue beacuse some of these films had some pretty good bebop. And my mind wasn't just cloudy from all the boobs, it really was good jazz. So what the hell. Who would like to make a comment. PS: the website to the company that distrubutes all these videos in this day and age is www.somethingweird.com. i mean hell, if there is one thing better than boobs, its VINTAGE boobs! Hell-yeah

I remember seeing a documentary on UK tv about the history of pornograhy in Scandinavia. If my memory is correct one of the examples showed Dexter playing in the background. My memory is a bit hazy, maybe it was Webster. Someone else must have seen it

Sorry, don't have the info you're looking for Aric...

But just a thought -- I guess the porn of the 50's-60's was like TV cartoons of the 80's-90's -- I have friends who don't really want it listed on their discography that they played on "Strawberry Shortcake" and "The Smurfs" -- but it paid the rent...

exactly. im telling you one of these so called "rougies" which looked like it had to be from 1955, the music was all crazy killer style orchestral, and then when they started ripping the girls clothes off with a knife and brutually raping her (it was fake (i hope)) the soundtrack switched to what sound like the milt jackson quartet featuring lucky thompson. I'm telling you, it was totally out of control.

A lost porno soundtrack from Bernard "Pretty" Purdie -- and one of his greatest records ever! The album's amazing -- a sweet batch of soulful funk, almost better put together than any of Purdie's more famous albums for Flying Dutchman or Prestige -- with a mix of tight drums, sweet electric piano, and even some occasional lead vocals from Sandi Hewitt -- who really adds a lot to the record! The album's got some monster funky cuts -- the most noteworthy of which is "Hap'nin", a mad break track that really has Bernard going crazy on the drums! Other cuts include "Pass Me Not", "Lialeh", "Touch Me Again", "Conscious", and "Easy".

Reminds me of a story:

A drummer friend of mine once related this to me. His wife and kids were out of town one weekend so after the gig he decided to rent a porno. He goes to the video store, picks one out that's a little older looking and goes home.

He puts the tape on and the porno begins with this funky ass organ music. He said it was a total surprise... the music was really happening. Well, he watched the whole video but didn't even care what was going on in the scenes... the music was BAD!

Turns out it was Bill Heid! He used to pay the bills by making porno music IN REAL TIME! They used to play the film for him and he and his band would just start up a nasty groove and funk out.

"In 1972, Dexter Gordon recorded the music for a Danish pornographic film. Personnel was Gordon (tnr), Kenny Drew (pno), Niels Henning Orsted Pedesen (B) and Jual Curtis (d). Titles: Tivoli, The Group, Girl With The Purple Eyes and Onrop. Some of the music was recorded at Jazzhus Montmartre, where the quartet is also seen performing".

There was a TV programme on BBC two years or so ago about the film's director (name escapes me at the moment) who made a variety of mainly art films.

Dex was heard but not identified in the TV programme.

Sorry. Aric, no sexual activity was shown. The BBC is not up to such things (well, not usually).

Ben Webster played on the soundtrack (and is seen on the film playing) of "Quiet Days in Clichy" after Henry Miller's short novel, if that falls into the category ..... It's the 1970 Danish film he's in:

Stille Dage in Clichy

The film 'Quiet Days in Clichy' does not belong in the blue movie category that Aric is shouting about.

Sorry I cannot help on that matter. My education is limited in that range but from seeing Aric's

enthusiasm, I really must have missed something.

To think that I also missed seeing Dexter in that Danish porn/art film!!
