Hey,

This is a ballad that I've composed,

and it goes like this -

00:00 - 00:56 - improv intro / opening

00:56 - 02:58 - The main theme (the part that I actually composed ...) - two times

02:58 - 05:30 - improvisation based on the main theme - (as you do in jazz ...)

05:30 - 07:38 - The main theme again - two times as well ..

07:38 - 08:25 - improv ending ..

I just joined to board and thought I would introduce myself here. I have been a piano player for a long time, but started playing organ 5 years ago. I found the site through the organissimo band videos on you tube. I dig that group! There are a lot of great things posted in here too! New review of the PostCage comp, thanks to Rob Haskins and American Record Guide.

The all important excerpt about my part in this collection:

"John Cage would have been 100 in September. (You think that's impossible? Think Elliot Carter.) This project, which has been in process for several years, is a marvelous contribution to the occasion. "PostCage" can mean many things, of course, and one soon encounters great difficulties describing a particular composer's debt to him. Still, some of the offerings here show their lineage quite clearly: David Beardsley's November Test Patterns, the Ecstasy of Electric Trees Weeping in the Twilight including Recumbent Bright Insects and Relevant Footnotes (2009), for just intonation sine tones, clearly relates to Cage's interests in electronic music ad in attending to the rich sonic and simple. (The sonority persists, unchanged, for the work's ten-minute duration. As Beardsley remarks in the notes, "It's not going anywhere because it's already there.")"

Freedom's Fall (quintet) This was recorded with musicians I worked with on the SS Constitution back in 1986. We'd jam after hours every night on the ship. working on originals. We pooled our bread and went into a studio in Honolulu one Saturday. This is way loose, but have always liked the energy.we were getting.

I play Jazz on electric mandolin / electric mandola / electric fiddle as my hobby and I love to create videos of my favorite standards. I use a Boss GT-10 and so I'm able to play the Bass lines myself as well. My newest one is a solo on "A Time for Love" by Johnny Mandel, using drop-2 block chords on several passages.

"The one recent work is that by David Beardsley. Sonic Bloom (1998) is a halo of soft attacks and microtonal chords. It is inspired by La Monte Young, but its form relies less on drones, more on a continually changing palette of harmonies swaying like slow, decaying windchimes."

not much of a review, more like a description. sorry, no wind chimes there.

My soundcloud page has a few "gypsy jazz" style recordings and the last two tracks on the page are more experimental recordings. We have gottent a little better since those were uploaded and will be recording a demo soon. Would love to hear some constructive criticism though.

Had a really fun gig last night at The City Tap in Pittsboro, NC with Brad Maiani on guitar and Michael Ode on drums. Michael is a student at Oberlin. I'm playing my Hamichord through Leslie 3300. We recorded it using two cell phones with Apogee Mics, then combining the tracks on Audacity.
