Hi Christian! Nice to see you joining in here, too! And thanks for clearing up things re. those Koller/Pettiford dates! I've read that Behrendt passage somewhere, too - that was the reason I bought the LP of "Vienna Blues" several years ago.

Mike, a little bit further up in this thread you see that the MPS reissue will not include that track! A pity, indeed! But let us be glad they do finally produce reissues again (and such nice ones, too :tup )

It's a shame - they do not spend any money on serious reissues - just straight from the "original master tape". No looking into discographies or databases, it seems. I don't mind if they are digipacks, jewel cases or mini-LP cover, I'd even take naked CDs with downloadable artwork - just as long as they take care and include those bonus tracks released on obscure albums.

What else was on that Pettiford tribute, BTW?

Bought the Koller "Exclusiv" CD today - sound is very good, a little bit on the bright side as is the case with most recent reissues: when will those remastering engineers understand they boosted up the treble because the LP mastering and reproduction and playback equipment had its limits in those days, so you have to reduce them a little when remastering to CD?

It's a pity there are only four tracks of the quartet with Pettiford and Zoller on this CD ... the ryhthm section on the nonet tracks is a little stiff compared to the Zoller/Pettiford/Pratt team.

for those not having bought the last Koller MPS re-releases.... 2001 has now six of them in store... (you need to search for MPS as no dedicated link exists from the homepage)

Cheers, Tjobbe

only since today then... I sent out an order yesterday. nothing new on the MPS front. I got these a while ago already. Killer stuff!!!

was just listening to the weverka archive - forum west 1962 - 1968 again and i`m very enthusiastic about the music (and the fat sound - super transfer quality).

as the remaining unissued material from the featured artist seemingly is not available anymore via download (from weverka), it is said that more of it will be reissued soon on cd due to the great success of the forum west comp.

christian, others, any news about this ?

cheers, emil

I just received two of the regular Wewerka disks:

Unforgettable Ronnie Ross and Night Bounce, although there is some uneveness in the sound quality between the different sessions, even on the same disk (levels, stereo stage, instrument placement) these have very nice sound indeed and offer superb music :tup
