New York, NY - Arts for Art, Inc. will be celebrating this June "A Dozen Years of Visionary Music, Dance, Spoken Word, Film and Visual Arts". The world's premier avantJazz festival will take place from June 19-24 - once again at the beautiful Angel Orensanz Foundation at 107 Norfolk Street, NYC. This year's festival is the most ambitious Vision yet, featuring a global cast of avantJazz giants from New York and around the world. The centerpiece of this year's festival will be a special lifetime achievement celebration for legendary trumpeter Bill Dixon who we have commissioned to compose a big band work to be premiered at the festival. Founded in 1996, the Vision Festival has become the most successful artist-organized festival in the history of jazz. The festival is dedicated to presenting the finest creative artists whose work demonstrates a disciplined disregard for traditional boundaries, which has become the Festival's hallmark.

Highlights for the 2007 Vision Festival include newly commissioned works by William Parker, Bill Dixon, Roy Campbell (commissioned by Arts for Art with support from the New York State Music Fund, established by the New York State Attorney General at Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors) and Nicole Mitchell (commissioned by Chamber Music America), an evening tribute to Bill Dixon and a special memorial for Leroy Jenkins. Other highlights include Marc Ribot's Spiritual Unity, Jayne Cortez FireSpitters, Matthew Shipp solo, Fred Anderson Trio, Vijay Iyer, Eddie Gale All Stars, Amiri Baraka, T.E.C.K. String Quartet, Hamid Drake, Louis Moholo Quartet and more. The full schedule will be released next week.
