EDIT:

Word from Pete Graff at KBCS this morning is that the playlist and audio archive for the show are now up online.

Each year KBCS asks DJs to submit a Top Ten list. It's always difficult to narrow the choices down to only ten discs and I'll be adding others for a more extended list when December winds down.

2009 KBCS Top Ten:

Satoko Fujii & Myra Melford: Under the Water, Libra

Moraine: Manifest Density, Moonjune

Fred Anderson: 21st Century Chase, Delmark

Hailey Niswanger: Confeddie, www.haileyniswanger.com

Austin Jazz Workshop Plays Rahsaan Roland Kirk: Mystery Note, AusJazz Music

Ethnic Heritage Ensemble: Mama's House Live 35th Anniversary Project, Katalyst

Jacam Manricks: Labyrinth, Manricks Music Records

John Hollenbeck Large Ensemble: Eternal Interlude, Sunnyside

At the end of November, Chris DeLaurenti is leaving Flotation Device (Sunday 10:00 p.m. - midnight) to pursue other projects after co-hosting with Jonathan Lawson for two years.

Here at KBCS we'll miss Chris's extensive knowledge of field recordings, plunderphonics, computer and electronic music, turntablism, modern classical and so much more as well as his personable style.

http://www.delaurenti.net/index.html

Beginning December 13th I'll be co-hosting Flotation Device, alternating weeks with Jonathan. An adventurous mix of free jazz, non-idiomatic improvisation, electronica in its many permutations, computer music, found sounds, spoken word, poetry and unclassifiable soundscapes...

12/13 – Bill Barton

12/20 – Jonathan Lawson

12/27 – Bill Barton

01/03 – Jonathan Lawson

01/10 – Bill Barton

01/17 – Jonathan Lawson

01/24 – Bill Barton

01/31 – Jonathan Lawson

If you live in the Bellevue-Seattle area, know and love jazz, and would be interested in co-hosting Bright Moments sometime in the future, please contact me at seekandlisten@gmail.com

Have no fear, Bright Moments will continue at the same time each week.

“So until we see you again

Bright Moments and keep on searchin'
