bertrand
Who, what, where? Is there more from this gig? Bertrand. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvySgQuSoX0
JSngry
From the back, the pianist looks a little like Chick... Most likely not early '60s, I think. Fascinating clip.

david weiss
I'm pretty sure it's from the Molde Jazz Festival, I think 1967 or 68...pretty much the same deal as the Freddie Hubbard Birdlike clip from the same period (though a different year). They came over as a single and played with a local rhythm section. As with the Hub clip, I wonder if there is a whole concert of this stuff, hard to believe they went all that way to play one tune. DukeCity
Excellent clip! Of course, then I got sucked into the YouTube vortex and watched Coltrane play Green Dolphin with Wynton, PC, and Jimmy Cobb. And so on, and so on... Bob would want to know... Not sure who they are. Just know it's not NHOP and Tete. Met both on a few occasions and it ain't them. Met Alex only once but the fleeting shots don't look like him either. Rooster_Ties
No idea if this is correct, but FYI, the most recent comment posted to the Youtube clip says... Correct information is: Wayne Shorter (ts) Lars Sjösten (p), Roman Dylag (b), Rune Carlsson (d) from Molde Kino, Molde, Norway early August 1966, between August 4 and 7. Grain of salt, and all that. Cool clip!!!
bertrand
That's not Dylag! Bertrand.
Tom Storer
To add to the mystery, a second tenor player can be seen lurking behind the drummer shortly after the 6:30 mark. The bassist is clearly Jean-Paul Sartre.
Daniel A
That's not Dylag! Bertrand. And not Carlsson. Rune Carlsson, Roman Dylag, Krzysztof Komeda and Jan Ptaszyn Wroblewski:

Larry Kart
Based on recordings I've heard on which Dylag appears, he was more fluid/fluent than this guy.

Daniel A
It's hard to identify the pianist from that angle. This is how Sjösten looked around 1970: Judged from the playing it could be him.

Guy Berger
The 1966 date can't be right... Wayne was with Miles's quintet in the US during early August 1966, according to Losin: Quote The Quintet performed at Chicago's Plugged Nickel Club (July 20-31), then played in Cleveland at the Ohio Valley Jazz Festival (August 6). They were booked for an encore in Detroit's Cobo Arena on August 7: "George Wein Presents Festival Encore" -- scheduled along with the Quintet were Sarah Vaughan, the Dave Brubeck Quartet, the Horace Silver Quintet, the Jimmy Smith Trio, and Joe Williams. Thanks to Chris DeVito for this information. Early/mid November 1967 seems probable: Quote Davis left the "Newport Jazz Festival in Europe" tour early after a dispute with producer George Wein. The rest of the Quintet performed the final concert or two of the tour as "The Wayne Shorter Quartet." JSngry
Only that's not "the rest of the Quintet"... LOC cites Meeker citing this as being part of a film of the 1966 Molde festival: https://www.loc.gov/item/jots.200020855 Nothing about Wayne being at Molde in 1967: https://www.loc.gov/item/jots.200020871 Today, the festival runs mid-late July: https://www.loc.gov/item/jots.200020871 Anybody know if it's always been like that? The festival's own site cites 1966: http://jazzarkiv.moldejazz.no/list_artist.php
