Apparently in August the Canadian Mint will offer a commemorative coin set featuring each of the teams on the reverse.

The Saskatchewan provincial government committed today to contribute 30% up to $80 million for a new stadium in Regina. The premier wants it to be open air, but designed in such a way that a roof could be added later.

In my view, a roof is a horrible idea. The winds of Regina are a league asset, and therefore a national asset.

The city has budgeted $230 million for the stadium, so it is not a sure thing that it will ever be built.

Saskatchewan Roughriders 43....Hamilton Tiger-Cats 16

The Ticats are supposed to be good this year, and the Riders are questionable. But The Riders led the entire game, blowing it open in the fourth quarter.

Remember, this is the last year the Ticats will play at Ivor Wynne Stadium, aka Never Win Stadium.

Noel Prefontaine had a bad day, which may have cost the Argos the game.

Grant Shaw, on the other hand, had an excellent day. The Argos sent Shaw and Steven Jyles to the Eskimos for Ricky Ray; and judging by today's performance, the Argos traded the wrong kicker.

During last night's game, ref Andre Proulx had to leave. It turns out that he suffered a mild heart attack. He's only 48.

During the off season, a number of fans expressed the view that Drew Tate was not sufficiently proven to justify the Stamps' letting Henry Burris go and giving the first string QB job to Tate. But Tate looked good tonight.

Both offenses looked pretty good. The Als were much better than last week, and led the whole game. Buck Pierce played nearly all the game for the Bombers.

Noel Prefontaine kicked a field goal on the last play of the game to win it.

Drew Tate slipped and fell and hurt his shoulder in the first quarter. He will be out indefinitely. The case can be made that Kevin Glenn is the league's best second-string quarterback.

Yes, Calgary lost that game the way the Argos usually lose, namely the Argo bounce, usually right into the other team's hands! (Did you

read the story of how the Argos lost the '71 Grey Cup to Calgary- I will never forget the disappointment of that Nov. afternoon; the CFL was really big in T.O. in those days,50,000+ attendance for games- that was before we got a MLB team- changed everything).

Anyway Ricky Ray is a huge upgrade at QB; will probably result in the Argos having a .500 season. Their defense and special teams are too porous for the team to make the Grey Cup , but hey, it's the CFL; wacky things can happen!

John, yesterday evening I watched a TSN video of a CFL game, the Argos game. I was going nuts with the instant replay after almost every play, and the annoying sound effect that TSN employs at the start and end of each replay. Actually, I watched the first half. Probably tomorrow I want to watch the second half so I can see Larry Taylor's 125-yard kick return.

I hope that this was the most boring game of the year. With five minutes left, the score was 6-1.

Kavis Reed apparently hasn't decided who his quarterback will be yet.

The Riders-Eskimos game had over a thousand yards of punts (468 + 539)!

The Stampeders have brought back Canadian QB Brad Sinopoli because of the loss of Drew Tate for the time being.
