Dave Naylor has a good column comparing Tim Tebow's situation to Doug Flutie's - basically, he is too much of a distraction to be a second string quarterback, so nobody wants him. But I remember that Flutie played for $1 million a year when the Canadian dollar was worth 60 cents. Would Tebow be willing to play in the CFL for current CFL wages? By the way, the Ticats have the neg rights to Tebow.

The NHL Calgary Flames have owned 5% of the Stamps for the past few years. Today they increased the amount to 70%, at a price which values the team at $15 million.

John Hufnagel agreed to a five-year extension of his contract, so there should be no major changes regarding the football operations of the team.

Here's an article listing the Canadians who could get picked in the NFL draft. As mentioned in the post #1106 link, this greatly alters the CFL draft, because the guy will be lost to the CFL for three years while he kicks around the NFL trying to land a job.

The league has been revealing over the past couple of days the new uniforms. They are tight and moisture-wicking. Should be harder to grab.

The only new design I've noticed is the Bombers', who will have gold sweaters instead of white ones. The Ticats are returning to their look or a few years ago.

Draft Day is tomorrow. Here's the best article I've found about it.

The NFL drafted three guys who were eligible for the CFL draft, and signed another two undrafted players immediately after. So their stock will decline in the draft.

When a player is drafted, that CFL team owns his rights forever, I believe.

There have been so many CFL first rounders who didn't pan out that I don't care too much about the draft. If I were a GM, I'd probably go with linemen.

The Bombers have released Joe Lobendahn. He tore his ACL last year, so he is probably through.

The Riders think that the $14 million to be spent to renovate Mosaic Stadium will be good for four years.

Jim Popp would like two additional rounds to be added to the draft so that more CIS players would be invited to camp. (How that follows I don't see. Why don't they just invite the players to camp anyway?) And he also thinks that NCAA players who do not declare themselves eligible for the NFL draft should not be eligible for the CFL draft. He thinks there is too much risk in drafting futures.

Popp also pointed out that only 22 of the 45 players drafted last week participated in the league's evaluation camp in March.

A concrete ceiling of a steam room at Commonwealth Stadium collapsed, injuring a contractor. I thought these things are supposed to happen only in Quebec.
