jazz tunes (or standards) with Middle Eastern or Asian place-names...

Rawalpindi Blues (from Escalator over the Hill)

A Night in Tunisia (Hey, technically Middle Eastern or not, they speak Arabic in Tunisia -- so that's "Middle Eastern" enough for me.)

Basra (Pete La Roca)

Others?? (Just fishin' to get a big list goin'.)

Also, what are some of the earliest examples??

Anything else interesting that comes to mind, related to this general topic??

From Nat Hentoff's liner note to Donald Byrd/Gigi Gryce Jazz Lab: "Bangoon by Hank Jones combines parts of two place-names, Bangkok and Rangoon, both visited and enjoyed by him several months ago when he journeyed to the Far East with Benny Goodman under the auspices of the State department."
