I ask Mosaic to use DHL, who deliver immediately and bill you for duties later. The service charge they add is very low.

I've been hit hard by DHL so avoid them like the plague !

I'm avoiding DHL too, ridiculous charges on the last Mosaic set (Miles vinyl 65-68) they delivered to me. they calculated the value of the shipping as £37 ($72 approx) taxed it accordingly and slapped on a £10 handling charge. Most dues I've ever been asked to pay. Additionally they sent it via Glasgow for 24 hrs to add insult to injury.....

Just so that the boys from 'Trainspotting' can trash it a bit? :w

Yep, the DHL option sucks in my opinion too. I've always been 'dinged' heftily with that option so tend to stick with the US Air Mail (where you get dinged also but slightly less)>

I had the Hodges sent by airmail and it took 3 weeks whereas DHL is normally a few days.

Is the 3 weeks the norm? You've got me being cautious about DHL!

DHL should be fine I reckon for shipments below taxable value ( ie around $30). I've had several 7 -discs sail through untroubled (when the pound was even stronger than it is now). I've complained to DHL about my most recent charge. I don't expect success really but they might temper their service charge given their documented ineptitude. 3 weeks for airmail not uncommon in my experience.

Trainspotting was set in Edinburgh ...I was tracking the progress of the parcel on-line, salivating at the prospect of receipt. The dingbats received the parcel into their Edinburgh depot , then sent it to Glasgow for 24hrs safe keeping and then back to the Edinburgh depot again and then me.

What ever transpires Mosaic sets remain very good value for money whether Selects of black-boxes....

Ah, so it was. Now why did I think Glasgow? Very strange some of the detours these US mailings take. My last one (from Music Matters I think) went via Sweden, for some inexplicable reason. No doubt the same reason that BA delayed luggage to Heathrow is going via Milan...

huh? you pulled the trigger and then it was gone, or you came too late?

Not quite :D

It was gone - cursed, kicked myself and applied self-flagellation a la Max Mosley - and by major miracle from heaven snapped up the one copy still available on Amazon UK Marketplace. Cheaper than Mosaic too. :rsmile:

He he, sure you put on your olde SS uniform to do so!? (Why are all these formula 1 bosses nazis? His predecessor was in some kind of French SS troup, I read somewhere...)

Clunky: you'll enjoy! I haven't made my way to the end of the Manone dates yet, but what I've heard was all quite good!

I gladly picked up the Prima/Manone at a record store in NJ for $50. Hpapy I got it.

Stand out track has to be Prima's version of SWEET SUE - love the ending/bridge/chorus/whatever I'm not a musician part right around 2:15 or so. Best version I've heard of this song.

My Prima/Manone set has just arrived. Copy # 1023.

So far (CD1 playing) the verdict is that this one sounds damn cool..

I only spun discs 1 & 2 so far and really have enjoyed them. Slowly over the years my dislike in vocal jazz has diminished, i dig the vocals when they're done well even if the lyrics are nonsense
