I was listening to Stanley Turrentine / Milt Jackson's album Cherry this morning, and absolutely loved this version of I Remember You

Beautiful! There aren't as many covers as you'd expect of this - one of Bird's favorite ballads.

love the first Foxes Fox CD - will get the new one soon.

maybe my most played Evan Parker recording over the last few years.

Louis Moholo-Moholo is superb on that recording

Wonderful group...the first time I ever played with Louis was when Evan asked me to sub in this group when Steve Beresford couldn't make a show...and in fact, I'd never even met him until that point, although I have the honour of doing a few things with him now...but that was some kind of baptism of fire!

Utterly bewitched today listening to Christy Moore singing 'Shine on You Crazy Diamond'. A grand, technicolour piece if ever there was one, stripped down to a simple, gentle, poignant ballad. I love the original but Christy makes the song his own by simply not even trying to approach the scale of the original.

Comes from here:

Two this week I heard on early morning radio that stopped me in my tracks. Don't know the performers but they were versions of:

  • Bach: Violin Concerto No 1 - slow movement
  • Mozart: Serenade 10 - 'Gran Partita' - slow movement

I've know both for yonks but somehow they hit extra hard this week.
