The Death of a Blackbird - Sarah McCoy (from Blood Siren)
This hauntingly beautiful piano instrumental goes to fabulous sideman Chilly Gonzales.

I always looked upon The Harper Brothers as one of those "what if" situations. In the liners to either this album or their first, they said they wanted to be this generation's Cannonball Adderley Quintet, and wanted to be together for years (at least that's what I remember), but after the above lp, they were no more. It was disappointing, as I thought they were very good and had great promise for the future, but like so much of 1990s jazz, it was not meant to be.

Here's one of them, and he's still pretty good. You can watch on the Smalls livestream.

A Jackson In Your House - AEC.

Thanks to Lazaro for playing this. It's probably been 20 years since I last heard it.
