Well, I do hope special price means specially low, not specially high. I have only a handful of these and many are out of print, so I am all for it. I see 5 that I must buy and probably another 10-15 that I would pick up depending on price.

I suppose if I had been a loyal ECM customer and bought them all when they were first in print I would be somewhat chuffed.

Great news, and good prices, will be picking up a few of those.

The Jazz buyer at Amoeba said Survivors Suite was going to get the re-issue treatment soon as well.

I wonder if they will do any 180gr vinyl re-issues also. I would love to have a great vinyl copy of Steve Tibbets YR, the cd issue doesn't do it justice.

I have Dreams So Real, Gnu High, and Duas Vozes.

Are any of these highly recommended? FWIW, I love Dreams So Real.

I'm interested to hear what others recommend too, I'm unfamiliar with a lot this music. Two I'm going to order: Gnu High and Special Edition.

Some recommendations, based on my tastes and what I've heard over the years. I used to really like the "ECM sound," but have grown less fond of it over the years, so take some of these recs with a grain of salt. The other thing, too, is that ECM LPs can often be had very cheaply and the vinyl quality is often very good. But good vinyl is essential since some of the music is very "sparse" and vinyl noise can really ruin the enjoyment of these albums for me.

John Abercrombie/Ralph Towner - Sargasso Sea

Paul Bley - Open, To Love

Gary Burton with Pat Metheny - Dreams So Real

Chick Corea / Miroslav Vitous / Roy Haynes -Trio Music, Live In Europe

Jack DeJohnette - Special Edition

Keith Jarrett - Facing You

Keith Jarrett / Gary Peacock / Jack DeJohnette - Standards Live

Kenny Wheeler - Gnu High

John Abercrombie / Dave Holland / Jack DeJohnette - Gateway

Bill Frisell - Rambler

Keith Jarrett / Gary Peacock / Jack DeJohnette - Bye Bye Blackbird

Charles Lloyd - The Call

Pat Metheny - New Chautauqua

Paul Motian - Conception Vessel

Ralph Towner - Batik

Art Ensemble Of Chicago - Full Force

Lester Bowie - The Great Pretender

Pat Metheny Group - First Circle

no weber? then this is an exercise in stupidity.

I tend to agree, though not necessarily re: Weber. It's a curious bunch of reissues as most of these were available until only recently. I'd much rather see some of the unreleased on CD (at least domestically) Beirach and Abrecrombie sides, as well as the Robin Kenyata (for example). And if you are going to re-release oop items, why not start with the Mal Waldrons?

I'm sure this has been discussed elsewhere, but I am very unfamiliar with the ECM catalog. My brother has a bunch of stuff, but it seems to be all across the board.

A lot of times I'll see an ECM record and pass right over it. Probably ig'nant (where'd edc go?) of me, but I just don't get excited.

I'd love to have Bright Size Life and Dreams So Real on LP though... I really like Dreams So Real.

I don't know what Ralph Towner sounds like, but vibists always talk about Matchbook, the duets with Gary Burton.

I know AEC has some ECM dates. I didn't know about the Mal Waldron stuff...

I've got the Priester albums. Some nice stuff in there, but you have to wait a while for the meat. Sort of like a fancy dinner.

I don't remember Gnu High being all that exciting either really. Maybe I'm wrong.

Right. How about Free at Last for starters.

And how about the Marion Brown and Sam Rivers while were at it?

edit to say that I don't know if the Rivers was ever on cd
