ejp626
This looks pretty tempting. I'll try to give a listen the next time I am at Dusty Groove: http://www.dustygroove.com/item.php?id=g58...p;ref=index.php Their reissue program seems to be going strong, though as eclectic as ever. Soul Stream
Awesome! DG's killin' on their reissue program.
DMP
Haven't heard it in years, don't think it's essential, but nice to have some Cadet McDuff available. I remember being disappointed in the "live" tracks, which in no way represented what it was like to hear that particular edition in a club - that was something! McDuff did this false ending/dropping a handerkerchief bit on "Gin & Orange" - talk about getting a crowd worked up!
sheldonm
I thought about picking it up when I was there this weekend but didn't. m
Big Al
Wow, that looks like it's as tasty as Down Home Style. Is that an accurate comparison?
DMP
Not sure that I'd compare it to "Down Home Style" - most of "Gin" has the sound of his working groups at the time, whille "Style" has always struck me as more of a studio creation, what with the prominent sound of the electric base. DMP
Big Al - Let me take back what I said above... Most of the studio cuts, which make up about half of the album, are in the vein of "Down Home Style," a similar kind of sound. (The rest of the album is from the London House, not necessarily a room you associate with organ groups.)
