If you want to pay the $ for an expensive vinyl only release you can do so, but you can also get the music for a lot less money and the artists get something out of the deal either way. I think Drimala and Leo are doingthe same now (Leo started offering full OGG downloads (aparentyl sound bettr than WMA and MP3 of the same bitrate) of some his releases this month). Tony, I like Sinatra as well, but haven't got more than five or six of his CDs so far (Sinatra at the Sands, Swiging Lovers, Come Fly With Me, that Capitol mood album he did after breaking up with Ava Gardner, with "I Get Along Without You Very Well" in a very nice version, the Australian live recording, and Sinatra-Basie). I have quite a lot of early vocal music, and the closest thing I've heard to Georgian polyphonic singing is Sardenian singing - but Georgians have these hero mantality, so the songs are much more "monumental" and dramatic (I will send you a CD-R of Georgain folk battle songs from XV century - this is some powerful stuff). The All Music reviews for the Fondation Maeght discs include the comment "Enthusiasts should note that both volumes of Nuits de la Fondation Maeght were issued on CD from an excellent quality tape (read: non-vinyl) source on Comet Records in 2003" so I'm hopeful about the sound. Four Principles On Ireland And Other Pieces (1974) will be my introduction to Cardew. $9 seemed a good price to test the waters (much less than the hat releases anyway). Has anyone heard the Bailey? Talking about Bailey, I still can't fully appreciate what his approach. Probably I have the wrong Bailey. I also so him live (in duo with Susie Ibarra... sorry, Flurin, no fotos from the concert) - and he sounded extemely unfocused, nearly random. Also, didn't seem to listen to what poor Ibarra was doing (who was not particularly shining, either... I mean her playing, not her looks, Flurin).
