He made his displeasure known to Columbia executive George Avakian, asking, "Why'd you put that white bitch on there?"[3] Avakian later stated that the question was made in jest. Much better indeed The liner notes for the original album were written by André Hodeir (mispelled Hodier ). Not sure the notes were kept for the second version of the cover.
