A Lark Ascending
Anyone ever tried the burgers of Calais?
Son-of-a-Weizen
Sorry, 5 Guys is shit. If you're in the DC area (the home base of 5 Guys) it's Ray's Hell Burger, where you can get marrow as a topping, among other things (just gimme bleu cheese). That the place over on Wilson that has a burger topped with Foie Gras? __________________________________________________________________ From '16 Tips for The Perfect Burger': http://www.kitchendaily.com/2010/01/21/16-tips-for-the-perfect-burger/?icid=main|main|dl3|link3|http://www.kitchendaily.com/2010/01/21/16-tips-for-the-perfect-burger/ #16. Have Plenty of Toppings on Hand Everyone's got a different idea about what tops the perfect burger. Besides the standards -- lettuce, tomatoes, pickles -- try at least five or six other, less common options. Consider pepperoncini, jalapenos, or dried cranberries and break out of the American-cheddar-Swiss triumvirate of cheeses. Think havarti, Manchego or brie. dried cranberries??? I dunno....seems too goofy, that one does.
Chas
A little thread convergence, prompted by the fried dough thread... Americans' love of excess, combined with anxiety about same, has resulted in the clichéd, euphemistic exhortation to, "take it to the next level". In the caloric arms-race going on in hamburgerville, one of these higher levels evidently is achieved by the substitution of glazed doughnut buns for the traditional sesame-seed buns normally used to frame the softball-sized-bacon-and-cheese-covered-meat-spheroid... BruceH
Yuck. You'd get doughnut-frosting all over your fingers.
Chas
Yuck. You'd get doughnut-frosting all over your fingers. Yes, the availability of a postprandial finger bowl for glazed digits would be my main concern as well Perhaps you'd prefer something not eaten out-of-hand, or something for those times when you can't decide between a hamburger and a hot dog, when nothing but a dog's breakfast will do. Behold your gastronomic salvation :
