Norm
I picked up one of their studio albums (Hey, Eugene) which I thought was meh, however, tonight I'm watching a DVD which features them live in concert and they look to be very entertaining live (and much more interesting than the studio album would suggest). Teasing the Korean
If you never saw Combustible Edison live, you may love Pink Martini. But I've seen Combustible Edison and Pink Martini Live. Pink Martini just made me miss Combustible Edison. YMMV.
medjuck
I've seen them a couple of times. They're fun and would probably be great at a party, but in concert they're only mildly amusing. (I do like the song Hey Eugene, one of the few originals they do, a lot. My wife's band has added it to their repertoire. )
Shrdlu
What is the "genre"? (Lol, I hate that word.)
Van Basten II
They are pretty tough to describe, in my local used CD store they end up in the Electronica section Feels weird to see them right besides Portishead They are the food equivalent of Fruit Loops, fun to eat, but they are not recommended to eat every day. To describe them in one or two word how about Retro chic.
Adam
Retro Chic is good. Saw them once during their first album tour, and that was an entertaining show, but they've gotten muhc bigger in LA since then and I haven't seen them since. They play Disney Hall and the Hollywood Bowl now. Hey Eugene is a mediocre album in my limited listening experience; their first album is more entertaining, and one can gather from the tracks their interest. Of course, they have also changed some since then...
