Placed an order at Downtown Music Gallery for the Cecil box. Don't own any of them now...going on a Cecil Taylor binge anyway.

I'm offering the box set 2 Ts For A Lovely T if you want to feed the monster some more.

I ordered three all at one time for myself and two friends. cheaper ordering in bulk. My copy of new life is wrong. That trombone solo starts at around 4:30. the disc in the box is awful. compared it to the older single cd release. there, the trombone solo is really present

I'm up for 3 out of the 4... Not much of a Guiffre fan....

I wonder when we'll get a US distributor? For some reason it seems to take months for a US distributor to get these releases.....

Most of these boxes I usually have all but one, maybe 2, of the albums, so have taken a pass. It's kind of frustrating really, but I don't like buying duplicates. I only have the Bill Dixon and Threadgill. But I'll probably pop for the Giuffre and Pullen boxes. I have 1 from the Giuffre and 2 from the Pullen, and the Pullens are on LP.

You don't save anything really by waiting. I've pre-ordered all of mine via amazon.fr and gotten them quickly and well-priced.

It will be interesting to hear your reactions to the sound. When I've compared the earlier cd to the remastered, I've been greatly impressed with the sound of the remastering in these sets.

Just sent a mail.

Has anyone received replacements yet? Are they okay?

Replacements due in 6 - 8 weeks according to an email I received directly from someone at Cam Jazz.

Ah well - the recent gaffe in the Universal France Ella box was fixed within days... doesn't make much of a difference, it's just a bit weird since the box has been out quite a while. That's all I wanted to say.

I hear you. Hip-O/Verve/Universal messed up on one of the discs in the Coltrane Vol.5 Impulse Albums collection. They've been promising replacement discs for months now. Still nothing. Also, they show absolutely no consistency. They messed up one of the discs in the recent Getz 3 cd collection. Instead of offering replacement discs, they decided to provide a free download of the missing track. Go figure.

The ship be sinkin'!!!

Yes, that "Flamingo" MP3 is pretty lame!
I've got "Stan Getz & the Cool Sounds" on CD so it's not a biggie, but still...

I agree completely!

Luckily, like you, I have the "Cool Sounds" CD and have burnt myself a replacement. But IMO an mp3 download DOES NOT constitute a satisfactory fix. They should have offered a replacement disc.

I have contacted camjazz twice by email since the 13th. Has anybody reported a new complaint since the 13th and have received a response?

I was going to buy the Murray - although I have got it all on vinyl I still thought it would be fun to revisit. This error makes that more difficult - how can I be sure, months or more from now, that I am buying the corrected box. Pity. Oh well, I suppose I do have it all already...

That's somewhat of an issue indeed... silly enough, but it might be best to buy it now, complain and receive a fixed set later on.

And it would seem to me that if you buy it later on and happen to get a faulty set, they should still offer a replament then...

Can I just verify that the error amounts to a poor-sounding trombone solo? I can live with that

I might add that I'm still chugging along with the Murray box but I just. don't. get. it. Love Murray in other settings, love all the players, but the arrangements sound so, so off. Just like, not right. I don't know what I'm missing here. It just sounds wrong.

No, the error amounts to one channel being entirely missing, while on that channel, the other one is duplicated.
That does not amount to a real mono-mix - it is mono, but it misses lots of "information".
