Tim McG
OK. I was just chewing on some taffy and my bottom left crown popped off. I'm sorry...I erroneously thought these things were supposed to be permanent. What a fool I was. Anyone else have this problem?
Dave James
How long have you had the crown? Even though dentists use some kind of gorilla glue when they originally affix these, just like any cement, it breaks down over time. Needless to say, munching on anything sticky when you have crowns or fillings, especially something like salt water taffy, is asking for trouble. On the upside, your dentist should be able to re-cement the crown without too much trouble, assuming, of course, that you didn't swallow it. Besides, this will give you a chance to see your tooth doc. Only an anti-dentite wouldn't enjoy that.
Teasing the Korean
Hopefully chewy will chime in, as he is the expert on Crown.
Jazzmoose
Yeah, I've had one pop loose before. Remember, the thing they replace was supposed to be permanent as well...

RD44
I'm just about to have one fitted. £500!!! I'm 66 this month so hopefully it will see me out. The final straw was a piece of pork crackling. According to my dentist crackling is the most common cause of tooth breakage.
