My List of Notable Jazz Releases in 2010

As the year-end approaches, DJs and critics everywhere are busy drafting their Top Ten lists for 2010. KBCS programmers' lists will soon be posted on the station's website and mine will be among them. But I don't really like making a Top Ten list. There is just too much music out there that I haven't heard. I can't identify the "best" jazz releases of the year when I have heard only a fraction of what is out there. Even so, I have been blessed to discover so much good music that it is arbitrary to designate ten CDs as my favorites. I prefer to make a longer list. These are just some of the really good jazz CD's that have come out in the last year or so. (A few were released in 2009.)
