michel devos
Very sad to learn the passing of organist Gene Ludwig last week on the 14th of july. I hope to read some more posts on him here, he was really a great player.

LWayne
Those of us here in Pittsburgh were certainly lucky to be able to hear Gene Ludwig play on a regular basis. Very much reminded me of the Jack McDuff and Jimmy McGriff school moreso than Jimmy Smith. He was a local legend and his recordings with Jimmy Ponder on guitar are a treasure. There will be a memorial service commemorating him on Wednesday, July 21st at Palmieri's Restaurant in Monroeville/Plum area. LWayne
The Magnificent Goldberg
Oh, sorry to hear this. I liked Gene from hearing his first 45 for Atlantic - Sticks & Stones. Have been recently grooving hard to his album "Duff's blues" with the Bill Warfield big band. MG
