Scary Jazz (other genres too)

Good Halloween music is tough to find. I'd be interested to hear recommendations. My faves include Halloween by Lambert Hendricks Ross, The Great Pumpkin Waltz by Vince Guaraldi, and Spooks by Harris-Leigh Woodwinds. I'm interested to know if any jazz musicians have recorded tunes based on Halloween-related classical pieces, like the Bach Fugue, Dream of the Witches' Sabbath by Berlioz, or Danse Macabre by Saint-Saens. Thank you for your input!

In my mind, I can "hear" scary music from Charles Mingus, but all I can think of is Fables of Faubus. Not really what you're looking for. But he could write with a "scary" or haunting sound. Anyone?

Weird Nightmare

Especially the Hal Willner version(s) from Weird Nightmare: Meditations on Mingus with the Harry Partch instruments.

Not very scary sounding, but scarily titled - and HAUNTINGLY beautiful tunes...

Nightmare - Alphonso Trent

Phantomesque - Coleman Hawkins

Creepy Feeling - Jelly Roll Morton

And 'scary' sounding not scarily titled

Jungle Crawl - Tiny Parham

East St. Louis Toodle-oo - Duke Ellington
