Richard Raux?

Been listening to him on Roy Burrowes Sextet - Live At The Dreher and am really liking how he plays. Did a Google search, and wow, he pretty much sounds like he looks!

A really nicely variated phases-of-strangulation tone, a fine rhythmic feel that puts his swing in sync with his tone, and a good ear for changes & possibilities therein.

Anyway, this one album is the only place I've heard him, but it appears that he's been around for a while, so those who can sing his praises, please do!

Wow, that;s kinda painful, what with that rhythm section...

Raux is heard to much better advantage on the Burrowes album, where he's got Mal Waldron comping behind him, and a repertoire more, uh, less, uh...well, you know...
