Definitely got enough then ... ten plus discs from each label, and those are filled up, unlike those in the big box.Not much interest in the Carnegie box either, can take some Horowitz every now and then (and love some of it a lot!), but unlike other artist's monster boxes, I don't feel this one's for me. I just hate the fact that the boxes are limited editions - buy 'em or lose out. In fact, the Horowitz box I got is OOP, but somehow Amazon Germany had some recently at a good price. I've got a threshold related to the custom fees (which kick in as soon as I have to pay VAT - the fees are in the worst case 3.5 times as expensive as the minimal VAT value), so often I'm hoping prices fall below that value (which is roughly at 50 € or exactly at 62 CHF). This has so far paid off pretty well, but it might happen that I miss something because I keep waiting. The really big boxes - Heifetz, Rubinstein, Gould/Bach, Toscanini, Furtwängler are ones I got, the Horowitz (both jackets and Carnegie), Perahia or Reiner would be others I won't get - will never go below that of course. Very often though, patience "helps" ... the Vivarte box, the Henze DG box, the Richter solo box and a few others I'd been eyeing for weeks or more often months eventually did go for less. One of the craziest was the Baroque Opera box - that pre-order price was indeed cheap! Haven't explored its contents at all yet, though, I need lots and lots of time to digest operas. Still lots to explore there ... but I'd definitely be tempted if his complete jackets collection would make a return! I found the All-Baroque box quite a bit better, but the Archiv box offers some most fascinating glimpses at the times of early (on-the-way-to-)HIP performing, and some of those remain indeed very good, I'd say - I'm stil far from an expert, but it boils down to: I can still listen to those recordings and get plenty of enjoyment out of them, no matter if I'm familiar with later, more "correct" performances. Also of course it does contain a few things of more recent vintage, but for that, I'd say get the All-Baroque if you don't have it yet (these two, in most cases, omit duplication pretty well - meaning some works are in both, of course, but in different recordings). These are others that never quite took enough of a price plunge to spare me from being ripped off by post/customs, and I was even crazy enough to get the Baroque one in a local store ... but I've certainly not regretted buying either of them (with the Baroque as well, I guess I've still got about 20% that I've never yet listened, while other things I've played several times and love very much ... i.e. still my favourite of Monteverdi's "Orfeo" ...) My bigger complaint is that with all these boxes (and this is big indeed) I have to make a huge mental effort to go open it up. I did rip a lot of it, and that helps to some degree. The Baroque box has never been that cheap, I think - a real bargain for a wonderful set (provided you don't have much overlap). The only letdown is the booklet - no notes on idividual discs/works, but then at that price, and there's always the internets to read up more if needed - and of course for old folks such as us, there's books, too .
