Revisited the first a few years ago in the cinema and found it v-e-r-y slow.
The second remains the ultimate film classic for me.

Love those Antonioni's... though "L'eclisse" is the favorite of mine!

"I vitelloni"... I've seen it in the movies, 8 or so years ago - and loved it a lot, too!

Run Lola Run. i really enjoyed it. for me it felt like the right proportions of humor to angst for an over-the-top existentialist, action/thriller, comic-booky love story :tup :shrug[1]: :excited: fun fun fun.

Bad Boys. Hadn't seen this since the days when it came out (early 80s...). Penn is my hero in film acting, but i didn't enjoy it as much as i remembered back in the day. some good stuff and the acting is generally fine. just kinda 'herky jerky' w/ some aspects (plot, writing, general flow, technical shit, etc...). ok for "Penn completists" like myself but probably not necessary viewing for most of us here.

still - some great moments here and there...

I haven't seen Bad Boys for years, but it made quite an impact on me when I was younger. One of the most memorable scene has to be the beat-down with the pillowcase full of soda cans.

Saw this at Cornerhose in Manchester this afternoon. Fairly undistinguished movie redeemed by Binoche's acting:

Seems more dated than '40's noir. The daft guru and the go go dancing have not aged well.

Well done, I enjoyed it too but the ending with the explanation of the rodent and coming family addition seemed like a studio imposed coda. I wonder if it might have been better to finish with an abrupt ' fin' with the phone ringing.
Charlotte Rampling's unexpected departure reminded me of Janet Leigh's in Psycho.

Yes, and of course the "lemming invasion" was straight out of The Birds.
That bland suburban street was a wonderful location - oddly surreal. (This isn't the best picture of it, but then it's from a "Cars in Movies" database.)

They used to run this film all the time, "Back in the Day" It was one of the few Sean Penn films I really liked...I remember the beat-down with the sodacans, and of course the booming boombox! :rfr

Interesting, another Tourneur I haven't seen, need to remedy that.

May's star of the month on TCM is Joel McCrea , so you might want to see if it's running then.
I always have to look up how to spell Joel McCrea's last name...finally figured out why....Gordon MacRae !

Hey, meant to mention this earlier, but they are running Casablanca in theaters once again, tonight!(Tonight being Thursday the 26th) I saw it with my Dad and a few friends in a sadly mostly empty multiplex on the southside of the ATL, but it was still great to see with an audience...funniest Romantic Drama ever! ;)

Went to see "Lockout" today. I"m a Luc Besson fan, so I had a great time. Reminiscent of
"Escape from New York" and "Die Hard," with a bit of Battlestar Galactica (the new one) thrown in.

I now realize that I have seen the film under the title 'With A Friend Like Harry'. It was good but I need to re watch it.

ps Low and behold I've actually got a copy filed under the French title 'Harry Un Ami Qui Vous Veut Du Bien'!
