At first sight, though, that Mozart package looks rather like a family box of "Mozartkugeln" to me, if you know what I mean, King Ubu ... Wasn't it the CLASSICAL music listeners' fraternity, in particular, who went totally haywire about CDs in the early years of CD marketing and dumped their vinyl collections head over heels, thus accelerating the rapid shrinkage of the vinyl market? At least over here this pont has been made by sellers fairly often when the "nobody buys vinyl anymore anyway" story came up. I visited a friend from Salzburg a number of years ago and we went to a counter at the factory and bought an absurd number by the kilo very cheaply. When going thru the local shops' used classical section I'll sometimes look to see about adding a 3rd or 4th Rite or Firebird if I can't think of anything else but thus far there hasn't been one of interest (or one that I already don't have). But 20 of them? I hope to hell it's cheaper to find 1 used someday than it is to buy the whole friggin' box. I'm not even going to check the price in case it makes (warped) "sense" to buy 20 at once. I can imagine it having some practical value to a scholar researching the RofS. But I suspect Decca are working on the inability to resist an object of desire button. I suspect there will be a lot bought which never get listened to right the way through. I find it hard remembering what disc I've got to in a box with different pieces on! Since he is the most negative man to have ever walked the Earth, however, his disdain probably doesn't count for much: Yesterday Warner Brothers stated that "Van Morrison was reissuing Moondance". It is important that people realise that this is factually incorrect. I did not endorse this, it is unauthorised and it has happened behind my back.
