For example, Riverside is now part of Fantasy along with Pablo. But what about these labels and their music? I believe in the early days of CD according to Doug Payne's excellent and very thorough CTI discography which can be found at www.dougpayne.com , some of those albums were remastered by RVG, and housed in digipacks as early as 1984. I know some of the releases such as the Benson's were reissued on CD again in 2000 I believe, and other A&M/CTI titles such as one of the Jobim's and I think a Milton Nascimiento album were released in the Verve By Request series a few years ago. I believe that King is distributing the CTI catalog in Japan as of now and have recently reissued some of those A&M/CTI's before it became an independent in 1970. Chess/Checker/Argo/Cadet is owned by MCA/Uni- (or whatever the're called now) who have concentrated on their blues and vintage R 'n R/R&B side and largely ignored the jazz side. Told he still has a number of albums (a numer are now out of print) from his catalogue and he is selling them to askers. Another adherent to the 'Vinyl Lives' motto. Unhave a link to him. Becasue they also had stuff recorded for other labels in their catalogue. Some of their stuff is currently being reissued here: http://www.1201music.com/indexlow.html Not the nicest looking reissues, I agree, and they're expensive, too (at least here in Switzerland), but FINALLY they also gave us back Vol. 2 of Monk's London sessions (they've had Vols. 1 & 3 in their catalogue for some time now). Is that "Olé Dude" as in bullfighting or is that short for "Old Dude" (as I remembered it)? Is that "Olé Dude" as in bullfighting or is that short for "Old Dude" (as I remembered it)? Because if its short for "Old" it ought to be "Ol'" Ole Dude And The Fundance Kid is the way the composer spelled it - take it up with Phil Woods. alankin Posted January 22, 2004 Report Share Posted January 22, 2004 Palo Alto is now owned by (or has been licensed to) Quicksilver. The reissued a bunch of titles in 2003. Artists House was revived as a new label in 2003, but they're not reissuing any titles from their previous incarnation. I believe that the rights to the older titles may have reverted to the artists. I think that Strata-East is still around. They have a web site. (And I have a few of extras of some of their titles, by the way {see my web site}.) ...
