Mark Stryker
Coda: I adore the Jackie McLean Quintet "HIpnosis/Vertigo session, which I got when I was 15. I transcribed everyone of those tunes to play with my band in college.

This, together with the Bohemia 1956 live album are my favourites, and Una Mas from the later period. I suppose that some day I should play side 2 of the 12" version of Afro Cuban. It's just so hard to listen to conservative straight-ahead jazz after 20 minutes of kick-ass Latin rhythms. The Latin Session is incredible, but the second side is some really relaxed hardbop type stuff and shows the more tentative lyric side of Dorham. And Hank Mobley is also great on it.
