AfricaBrass? Hmmm...sounds kind of familiar...wasn't he the guy who made all those silly avatars?

Welcome back, Jeff; it's damned nice to see you here again!

Jazzmoose!! It's so great to see you too. :)

We sure had a lot of fun back then! I'm so happy to be back.

Very good to see you back here, AB!

Currently keeping a rather low profile here after suffering a very nasty form of pneumonia.

Will be back in shape in a few days and ready to exchange views and informations!

The babes thread is no more but the sexiest album covers thread is still going on!

Thanks Brownie!! I hope you get over the pneumonia soon. It sounds like you're coming out of it and that's a great thing! It's scary stuff. I had it a couple years ago and it really did a number on me and gave me a real scare.

Cat Shatner!

lol, impossible! The Cat is back! lol

I've been told that what doesn't kill me will make me stronger, but I've found that it has just made this ol' cat mangy. lol

hey jeff :tup

i've heard that what doesn't kill you, defines you.

didn't know you back in the day, but i hope you have good times on the board again from here on...

Thanks thedwork! It's nice to meet you! I look forward to getting to know you here.

Same here. Although I have run across your posts from time to time on older threads. I don't feel quite right welcoming you back since you were here and gone long before I arrived, but ... welcome back!

:tophat:

Thanks for the welcome, papsrus!! I love your user name! It's nice to meet you!

Sometimes what doesn't kill you just makes you wish you were dead.

Amen to that, Jim! lol

Welcome back! While you were gone Berrigan had an epiphany and became a socialist.

Thanks for the welcome (and the laugh), medjuck!! lol

well, I joined the Aryan Nation - but it was just a way to meet girls. Love those feminine bicep tattoos.

rotflmao

You're killing me, Allen! One benefit of dating these girls is that you don't need to buy them jewelry for Valentine's Day. You can buy them Drano for their meth. lol

AB goes back to the BNBB days!

You remembered! I still remember that first day upon the dissolution of the BNBB. All of us castaways were swimming to our islands (the various Bulletin Boards) and this cat followed B3-er to this paradise on the web.

Great to see you back. Hope you can stick around Jeff.

Thanks Hardbopjazz!! I plan on sticking around. You are all some of the finest people I have had the pleasure of knowing and I'm so glad to be back.

Nice to see you back!!!

Thanks PHILLYQ!!! It's so nice to see you too. :)

Welcome back, Jeff! Don't leave again. As you can see, not much has changed, although I was elected the head of the Wynton Marsalis fan club and I sometimes go under the name John Hammond.

Thanks Chris!! I really appreciate you kind welcome back! Thanks for the laugh too! lol

I also want to tell you how much I've enjoyed reading your blog. I found a link to it on the Hoffman board awhile back and have LOVED reading it.

Welcome back! While you were gone Berrigan had an epiphany and became a socialist.

:g Yep, I thought to myself, clearly it's the best solution to all of society's ills!

This is the first time I've logged-in since 2006 and I just wanted to say hello

Jeff, I just signed into the all about jazz site yesterday for the first time since 2007...you don't see me bragging about it! :bwallace:^_^ (I really did...looked at some very old Pm's, browsed a bit, then left for another 4 years)

Anyway, welcome back Jeff! :)

An old thread will show up once in awhile, I would see your name, see when you last posted, see it was a long time ago..and wondered why you left.

You see a fair number of people that used to post all the time just poof! Did they lose interest in jazz? Posting about jazz? Can't afford jazz? Have all the jazz that was ever recorded? Died? Glad it wasn't that, as are you, no doubt!

Interesting to read what you said about waiting for the next batch of cds to come out...the way music is gathered by most people really has changed...not sure if it's for the better . I really do miss walking into store and finding something that really was only put out on cd for me...

Thanks Berigan!! I appreciate your kind welcome and the laughs. :D

It's so weird to thing that the last time I was here, we could still walk into a Tower Records at 11:00pm and (often) find something amazing. I remember that feeling of finding something that was only put on cd for me. I've been thinking of writing about my love for record stores and cds. I know young people think they're archaic, but I still see cds through my 15 year old eyes in 1984 when I went to my friend's house and his dad had (gasp!) about 45 cds. I remember when my friend put a cd in the player. It was one of those players in which the cd was in inserted in the same manner as a cassette and you could watch it spin as it played. It took me two more years to finally save up enough to get my first player and cds. Although I love my family with all of my heart, my great love has always been going into record stores and buying music. I have so many wonderful memories and friends that I met doing this.

To answer your question about why I left, I did stop listening to jazz for a couple of years. I had spent nearly 20 years, prior to this, being completely obsessed with jazz and spending every free cent on it. I found myself in a really bad place in my life and career having made three out of state moves in the previous two years and I just lost my joy. I've been through such a dark night in my life during these past eight years. Fortunately, after a three year break from jazz, I pulled out some jazz cds and instantly fell in love with the music again. I didn't return here because I was ashamed of where I was in my life and also didn't have much to say anymore. I was pretty broken down. I made another out of state move a little over a year ago and have been working hard to rebuild my life. I'm starting to get my mojo back.

I never forgot about my friends here but didn't feel like I could return. I'm so grateful for the warm welcome I've received. It means a lot to me.

No need to apologize at all!

I would be happy if the rest of this thread is well wishes for you. Pneumonia is so scary and I'm so glad you're feeling fine today! I hope your recovery continues and you're back to full health asap!
