Tom Storer
Now there's a man with class. I've been listening a lot to that quintet lately, both live and in the studio. What a summit they reached.

mjzee
Just earlier today, I was listening to that Art Farmer Quartet, but with Steve Swallow on bass ("Interaction"). It was recorded July 1963; I wonder if that was before or after Ron's anecdote?

Miles Ahead has Ron's earliest recordings with Miles in mid-April of 1963 (at Columbia Studios in Hollywood) -- which off the top of my head, I think are on the "Seven Steps to Berlin" box. medjuck
Uhhh IIRC Seven Steps to Berlin is the name of the box. BTW How long did "The Trio" work with Wes? I thought the Half-Note was a one-off. I saw the trio a couple of times in Montreal and didn't even know about the existence of the quartet. I do have a recording from the Half Note with Wynton and Wes with Ron Carter sitting in for Paul Chambers. Ron Carter was all over the map playing everywhere.
