severe tornadoes in and around the Dallas/Ft. Worth

Recommended Posts

Nothing bad where I live (so far..). Sirens were going off & there was some wild stuff going on not too far away. Some really dangerous stuff to the south and further east still going on. Various video footages are pretty intense, Arlington's been declared a disaster area, hope Big Al is ok...

Springtime in Texas...you just never know...

Yup, I think we're in the clear now - it's moved east, but

two tornadoes dropped for quite a while in some neighborhoods

just 15 miles east of here.

Meanwhile: sirens, winds, rain (@ 4.5 inches per hour at one point)

and hail signaled enough warning for me to quickly empty the middle closet,

put some provisions inside, put on my bike helmet and keep a close eye on the cats.

ah....spring!

The thing that tripped me out was the 18-wheelers getting lifted several hundred feet up in the air and then getting smashed down like a cat playing with a dangling ball.

So far, no fatalities reported, which is a freakin' miracle.

Those and the huge shipping containers!

Unofficially, twelve tornadoes hit in our area - the official count

is usually higher. whew...

He appears to be fine, per FB.

Yeah, my neighborhood really dodged a bullet. Two of those tornadoes were less than a few miles away. My in-laws house was right in the path of one, thankfully they were spared, but a house behind them wasn't as fortunate. One also touched down on the baseball field of my son's high school. The schools, from what I can tell, did a great job of keeping calm (although my son says that his class was in one of the safer areas of the campus, so they weren't worried).

I'm just grateful there were only a few injuries and no loss of life. This coulda been far worse.

And today is one of the most perfect & beautiful spring days I've ever experienced in my life. Ever. Perfect temperature, nice cool breeze, everything as green as green can be, birds singing non-stop, and not one 18-wheeler flying in the sky to stop them.

What the difference a day makes!
