colinmce
Thanks for the heads-up. I've been waiting for this since reading about it in the notes to the Group Live CD.

romualdo
Just ordered my copy from Danas (plus the William Parker box, new Evan Parker Trio & the Group "Live")
colinmce
The Group is great. Kind of an easy-going all-star vibe, but Billy Bang is on FIRE. He takes a solo on "Porkpie Hat" that's one of the best I've ever heard.
clifford_thornton
Yes, that Group disc is quite "good." I like to think that, alongside Arthur Blythe and David Murray, if Wynton was not the mainstream in the '80s this music most certainly would have been (in a sorta "what if" sense). mjazzg
Just received from NoBusiness. I'll be putting my exclusive vinyl run on hold to give it listen. so you weren't tempted by the vinyl version then to maintain your run? I'll be interested to hear your impressions. The samples sound intriguing but I've not quite hit "buy" yet

The samples sound intriguing but I've not quite hit "buy" yet First impression only. An interesting and probably a valuable document, but not played all the way through yet. Starts with an Aylerish march, To my ears there's quite a lot of Ayler in Brackeen's playing here. Abdullah is fine. Recorded sound is okay (not as good as say on The Group Live). The vinyl - for a guy my age I have far too much vinyl, I don't need any more. Edited April 20, 2013 by JohnS
