Chuck Nessa
Lee will not see this thread but I hope that after all these years he knows I love him. Last talked to him at Lincoln Center a year or two ago. Tyme flyes . :-)
paul secor
It's good to see a birthday thread for a musician who's still with us. We should do more of those - even though the musicians probably won't see or know about them.
Larry Kart
The musician I feel closest to in the sense that if played the alto and were a f---ing genius, I might sound something like Lee.

gmonahan
And not yet in the Down Beat Hall of Fame. I mean, really. Not only a great, great player, but by all accounts, a gentle and generous guy. Happy Birthday Mr. Konitz! gregmo

Justin V
The great Lee Konitz is 88 today. I'll spin something by him later, and I hope to see him perform again if he is anywhere within a six-hour radius because he is still playing at an incredible level. Here's wishing him a happy birthday.

Justin V
It is a great day for jazz birthdays, with Lee Konitz turning 92 and Terry Gibbs turning 95. I haven't seen him since catching two sets at the Kennedy Center the day after his 90th birthday. Although my daughter was still in the womb, she got to hear Konitz in person that day. I hope that he is enjoying his birthday.
