GA Russell
This is another of Laurie's download releases. $10.00. http://artpepper.bandcamp.com/album/in-copenhagen
Peter Friedman
This is another of Laurie's download releases. $10.00. http://artpepper.bandcamp.com/album/in-copenhagen I have had a 2 CD set of this material for quite a few years. I very much enjoyed hearing Art play with a legendary pianist that had never previously recorded with Pepper.

medjuck
Who's the rest of the rhythm section? I don't think Laurie names them on the download page.

mjzee
I have a lot of Pepper, and wouldn't call this top-tier. Art and Duke don't mesh that well (possibly for the reasons Laurie mentions), everyone sounds tired, and sound quality isn't great.

Though perhaps this is not the very best Art Pepper session, it is still quite a good one. Duke Jordan plays well, and contrary to what mizee said, the audio quality is fine. king ubu
Thx, don't need it then ... but will have to look for my CD, time for another spin - remember it as being pretty good!

soulpope
My copy is a 2 CD set on the Japanese TOFREC label. TOFREC was the first release before Galaxy - btw the japanese version carries superior sonics......
JSngry
Is this the proper place for me to ask for help in "getting" latter-day Duke Jordan? It's never really resonated with me.
Chuck Nessa
I am partial to "Midnight Moonlight" (solo etudes) and "Double Duke" (two-fer of a trio session with NHOP and Billy Hart) on SteepleChase.

If 1974 is late enough you should go this way....
Gheorghe
Yeah great stuff, and I remember a great album Duke Jordan together with Chet Baker, "No Problem" if I remember right.

Peter Friedman
Duke Jordan's recordings on Steeplechase are to my ears delightful. Duke has a very identifiable style that makes it fairly easy for me to pick out his solos in the majority of cases. His note selection, phrasing and ability to swing beautifully have made him someone whose playing I greatly admire.
Gheorghe
He became better and better and better. I must admit, I didn´t pay very much attention to his playing when he was a member of the Charlie Parker Quintet and - not talking about Bud - , I preferred Al Haig, sometimes John Lewis and Tadd filling in that role, and I wasn´t somehow influenced by Miles´bashing, it was a long time before "his" book came out. But the Duke Jordan from about 1960 on, during the following decades - fantastic !
Eric
Been listening to this set quite a bit lately. Art is on fire throughout. Great sound too.
