Don Pardo, RIP

Recommended Posts

Truly a voice of my childhood. It was funny when he was the announcer on SNL, he was already considered "old fashioned" then, that was some kind of inside joke, I think, that here's all these young crazy people on NBC, and here's Don Pardo. Continuity of the most televisiony type.

Yet look at how many of them he outlived. Last laughs best, etc.

I do remember expressing concern a few months back (December, maybe?) when his voice sounded weak and hoarse on an SNL. But he was back the next week, fully recharged, it sounded like.

Guys like Don Pardo might not be "stars", but they sure are legends, and deservedly so.

RIP, and tell us what we've won one last time, please.

Trivia time. Back in the 90's when our kids were younger, they had a CD-rom game called "Wacky Jacks" that was really great (very hip, as well as being well designed). Pardo was the voice of the game announcer, and his contributions were one of the best things about the game.

RIP
