Jazz Art Projects

Recommended Posts

I thought I would share a couple of Jazz related art projects.

For this I cut out 2" square cover art using a color laser printer and adhered the images to pre-cut letters using mod podge. I used a thin layer of mod podge to seal the images.

Step 1) Take inkjet labels and peel off all of the labels leaving only the slick paper
Step 2) Print an image on the slick side of the label paper (remember to flip the image if it has text)
Step 3) Carefully press the image printed on the slick paper
to the wood - it will slide so be careful

Tips: Pine or some other wood with a more open grain will likely work best. I used red oak which is hard with a tighter grain so it didn't accept as much of the ink as a softer wood might have.

If your image has areas of white (like the rightmost image on my project) it will remain the color of the wood as white doesn't actually print with ink.

That looks very very cool. I'm puzzled, though, how the close ups of the precut wood look faded while the finished "JAZZ" looks so bright and sharp.

The OP says he's sharing"a couple of Jazz related art projects". These are two different projects.

Thanks. I see that now. I'm tempted to edit out my post for being so dumb but I'll let it stand since, the main thing is, they are cool projects. (Of course editing would do no good since it would be seen in your post anyway. :-))
