Cancelling orders at CDJapan.

Good luck! A couple of months ago, CD Japan notified me that one of three CDs that I had ordered was cancelled (shown as available on their website, but they were unable to source). Given that this was the one CD of the three that I had ordered that I really wanted, I tried to cancel the order.

Key work being "tried". Despite sending repeated emails to the address on their website, my emails were ignored. Two days later I received notification that the remaining two CDs had shipped. They ignored my requests to cancel.

In a subsequent email exchange with Toshi Makaya, who was apparently an owner/manager; he explained that CD Japan has no idea whether the CDs they advertise can be filled or not when the order is placed. The "availability" is subject to record companies taking the order, actually having the inventory, and deciding to ship. While I complained that this seemed deceptive, CD Japan offered no resolution.

I understand that they are simply a fulfillment house, but find this group to be less than reputable. Needless to say, I will not return.

3-5 days means readily available older item. 1-2 days is for newly released CDs that are currently not in stock. 2-4 weeks means order highly likely to be cancelled.

In my experience when an 3-5 days item gets cancelled due to delay/unavailability, its status gets changed to 2-4 weeks or out of print afterwards.

Also, when you place an order and pay upfront with PayPal it says at the order completion page with the payment method you selected the order can no longer be changed after completion. They give adding items as an example. I assume this includes cancelling available items from an order with unavailable items.

In my experience this is an honest, reliable seller. Just make sure you read the information available on their help pages before placing your order.

Based on my numerous experiences items described "3-5 days" were shipped within the lower end of that timeframe + service and packing are impeccable to me.

If targeting an "older" item it may be worth to give a shot to Hmv.jp - I encountered that they would eventually fulfill orders with "2-4 weeks" items too (probaly cheing stoch with their outlets....) - once received a rare item I`ve already gave up on after a couple of months.....

Furthemore some japanese Amazon Platform sellers quite often offer "older" items, of course sometimes honoring the items rarity with a higher price.
