Wes Montgomery and Clark Terry

Milestones

Recommended Posts

Anyone know anything about this? I've been able to hear a few samples, featuring songs like "Straight No Chaser" and "We Got Rhythm." There are 5 tracks, and it certainly sounds like Wes in his prime. Clark Terry, of course, sounds great. I don't know of any other case where Wes had such a close partnership with a trumpeter/flugelhornist.

When was this recorded? Under whose name? Who are the other players?

would like to hear this. Should be easy to identify pre-free Bennink.

listening to a track on YT - definitely Bennink.

i have this session on a Jazz door cd (1227) from 1992 with the following personal: wes, g, terry, tp, Harold mabern, p, Arthur harper, b, Jimmy lovelace, dr.

????

Keep boppin´

marcel

I think that was from slightly earlier in the year, recorded in Paris.

there's only one euro '65 session with the wes/terry lineup. so it's the same, just an incorrect rhythm section listed on Jazz door.

thanks, can't open the source, but alright.

seems like the first four tracks also made it to a re-release under Wes + Billy Taylor's name

gotta look for the inside booklet mentioned on there to see if the personnel listing is correct.

is there another Wes session then, with Harold Mabern but without Clark Terry?

and it's really weird with that Rhythm-a-Ning title listing, why Opus Caprice? the "incorrect" Jazz Door release lists that tune as "Wes Got Rhythm" with Montgomery as the composer

I got this one, for the Joe Williams session which is quite nice.

joe louis has got additional "navy swings" sessions with wes:

there was even a tv broadcast with wes, terry and the pim jacobs quartet (including guitarist wim overgaauw trading fours with wes).

sadly that tape is said to not have survived.
