bopandbeyond
Hi Everyone, I used to post a here a long time ago when my radio show, Bop And Beyond, was on the air. My jazz activity had been dormant for awhile but I re-activated my blog last year when a friend challenged me to review 75 random Blue Note albums in celebration of their 75th anniversary. The project wraps up soon so I thought I should get the word out. Check it out here: https://bopandbeyond.wordpress.com/tag/blue-note-75-for-75/ Thinking about doing a similar thing for a smaller label soon. Cheers, Christopher
BillF
Thanks. Brought a few of the more obscure ones to my notice. Will be listening!
Dan Gould
Hmm ... right off the bat I am immediately wondering if I have that Bennie Green Minor Revelation/45 Sessions. Loves me some Bennie Green - and I got no problem with Babs Gonzalez myself. Thanks for posting I will take a look thru the archives. CJ Shearn
Excellent article! Skimmed it, but reminds me of why I need to fill in some gaps, though I am more into what's going on in jazz now these days rather than buying tons of reissues of classic BN's. Babs Gonzales is a trip, really. I love that added intro of his on JOS' "Cool Blues", and the two singles he cut with JOS are interesting. I never understood why those two tracks weren't added to the '97 2 disc reissue of Smith's first 3 albums.
