sonnyhill
Mike Reed has a new release called A New Kind of Dance that will be available this month and will also be on a record with Nicole Mitchell and Tomeka Reid called Artifacts, which is an AACM tribute. I listened to some of the samples of both records on Soundcloud and liked what I heard. I see that he has released several recordings on 482 Records, including a duo record with Roscoe Mitchell. Any thoughts on the merits of the records? I have not been able to find a lot of discussion about them on the board.

colinmce
They're all worth hearing, but IMO the ones to get are:Loose Assembly - Speed of Change+ Roscoe Mitchell - In Pursuit of MagicPeople Places Things - Clean on the CornerPeople Places Things - Second Cities Vol. 1 (probably my favorite one)
mjazzg
Another Mike Reed fan here. All the 482s are worth hearing. I tend to prefer the Loose Assembly releases over the People Place Things but only just. Speed of Change being my favourite. I've never warmed to the Loose Assembly with Roscoe Mitchell for some reasonI'll be buying both new releases. I saw him live with Adasiewicsz's Sun Rooms and he was very impressive
ombudsman
The only one I have is "In Pursuit of Magic" but I think it's great.
