It is in the field of pre-1600 keyboard music that historically informed performance practice has probably made the greatest progress during the last twenty years. What earlier generation players presented as a dry, scholarly music, now sounds passionate and playful. Corina Marti sounds like a musician from the past who travelled to us to show us how this music can sound when approached properly. Magnificent playing, beautifully sounding instruments and excellent recorded sound - and inexpensive. A perfect introduction to this type of music. Buy any of her CDs with confidence.

Back in the late '70s I was doing work for HNH Records in Evanston. Among other things, I was sort of a quality control person and this recording of the Scherzi caused endless mastering problems. As a result I listened to every note, hour after hour.

End result is I believe the recording is a singular masterful interpretation of the 4 works.

I am grateful for the trouble it took.

I love Weissenberg...it goes without saying there's some magic here, but there's also some pretty cavalier stuff (albeit in a very exciting way) in the Schumann Symphonic Etudes!

Lovely performances from the early 80`s .... but have to confess believing that  Weissenberg`s forte is Bach ....
