hbbfam Posted June 20, 2016 Report Share Posted June 20, 2016 I have been considering the Mosaic Complete Pacific Jazz Live Recordings of Chet Baker w Russ Freeman. It is OOP print a bit spendy. There are 3 remastered CDs Chet Baker Quartet Live (V.1-3) which are significantly less expensive. They have some additional tracks and were remasterd by Ron McMaster. Any difference in sound? John L Posted June 22, 2016 Report Share Posted June 22, 2016 I never heard the Mosaic set, but the 3 remastered CDs sound fine to my ears. Perhaps of significance, the 3 CDs were released after the Mosaic set. So most likely they tried to at least equal the remastering of the already existing Mosaic set. On the other hand, I don't know why I am even commenting as I am sure there are plenty of people at this forum who have heard them both. The big extra feature in the Mosaic set (and worth the $) is the beautiful booklet that contains several photographs, a good discography and an interesting narrative..
