It was Weather Report - I sing the body Electric

or maybe Hot Tuna?

or possibly School Days from Stanley Clarke.

My music instructor in junior high school nicknamed me Yakkity Sax which I thought was jazz.  I now know he was ribbing me hard.

Rather disappointing IIRC. Haven't had it for years, don't know what I'd think of it if I heard it now.

Charlie Parker, The Verve Years 1952-54, a Verve double bought at a garage sale in 1982. I didn't understand the music at all, but felt the need to figure it out. I told myself I'd listen every day for a week or two.

Five days later, I owned three other Charlie Parker LPs.

Django Reinhardt & Stephane Grappelli / Swing de Paris - Ric ...

A slighty more worldly friend brought this over when I was 14-I found one in the cut-out bin of the sort that were ubiquitous in retail establishments in that day.  Now, at best, I found this record "interesting," but the first jazz record that I dug from the second I put it on right through the run out groove was a pretty rocked out newish Miles Davis record: A Tribute to Jack Johnson.

My first jazz lp was:

but my first jazz record was a Buddy Bolden cylinder. I fear I donated it to the local Good Will when we moved to Buffalo. Lightening the load.

Did you produce that Bolden cylinder, there, Chuck?! ;)
